PGH Amazing Race Update 2: End of Day 1

Well the qualifying event of Day 1 has come to a close and I am happy to say that Team Crash is still alive. It was tough being ranked low going in. Tonight we were presented with two challenges that we could use to increase a score that would then be added to the amount of money we raised to determine our seeding for Day 2. So how did it go?

Gunz and I arrived at Station Square considerably early, so we decided to wander at random... the time we spent around Bessemer Court and the like would certainly come in handy.

When we made our way to the check-in at the Sheraton, two challenges awaited. First up: a written test on everything related to the Salvation Army, the benefactor of the event. You could take as much time as you wanted to figure out the answers, but you only had 1 hour to do this and the second mission. Luckily I knew a lot of answers off the top of my head because, being the fucking genius that I am, I had researched it ahead of time.

We had filled out the quiz pretty thoroughly and accurately-- though not completely-- when we opted to embark upon the our second challenge... afterall, we only had an hour to do both. Next up was a scavenger hunt along the 3 mile stretch of Station Square from Saddle Ridge to the Duquesne incline. We made our way from landmark to landmark doing what we could in the close to 40 minutes we had. We went bacck to our old Warrior Cross Country roots and ran between our targets at a fairly swift pace, even going as far as singing our traditional Tequilla duet while we ran. No cresting now, we were in the home stretch! Uher doin' it!

We managed to scavenge up EVERY item on that list with about 2 minutes to spare returning to the finish line at the Sheraton Ball Room. While scores were calculated we were treated to a pretty damn good feast from the Hard Rock Cafe which we enjoyed at a table with a team called "The Lumberjacks." Nice girls but not very lumberjack-esque. w00t.
But you just wanna know the important part, eh? Well after working our tails off in both challenges, here's the current PGH Amazing Race status of Team Crash:

Start of Day 1 Position: 18th
End of Day 1 Positon: 18th

Yeah we maintained the status quo. So much weight was on the amount of money fund raised that our ass kicking in the challenges couldn't really allow us to make up lost ground. Sigh.

But we have not been eliminated! And despite a disadvantage to start 18th again on the morning of Day 2, I know that we will prevail and we will Get There! Check back and I will try to update as much as possible.

Tally-ho!
