The End of One Adventure and the Start of a New One

Tally-ho!

It's the short cheesy battlecry that's become my trademark as I'm beginning a new journey or challenge. It's appropriate in a different way at the moment.

Backtrack a bit: the blog stood nearly still the past few months because I had temporarily moved to my cabin up at Sandpile Springs near Ohiopyle in the Laurel Highlands. I started training to be a whitewater guide on the Yough, but before I knew it I took up a position as a Recreation Coordinator at Nemacolin Woodlands. For the unfamiliar, its a swanky 5 Star 5 Diamond resort in the heart of the Pennsylvania mountains. I operated out of their Adventure Center, running zip lines, ropes courses, paintball combat, and rock climbing... with the occasional guided hike, bike trip, or offroad Jeep ride.

It was a crazy combination of class and adventure. Rubbing elbows with some of the economic elite at a beautiful hotel and taking them to play in the mountains around Ohiopyle... yeah... it was a kick-ass summer... even if I had no internet to blog with.

But it was only a stop-gap. Sparky and I had a sweet apartment lined up in downtown Pittsburgh. And as much as I enjoyed having waterfalls and rock crags in my backyard, this is home. And it's great to be back.

I'm trading in my climbing harness and starlight for law books and city lights. After a long break, I'm going back to school to live out my dream of practicing law while attending law school at Duquesne University. Our apartment is a far cry from the secluded cabin I just got used to, going from a forest down a dirt road to a boulevard in the heart of the Steel City but a great change nonetheless.

I hope my reintroduction to regular internet service means that I can go back to multiple updates here during the week. But no promises yet... the workload of law school doesn't leave much time for blogging... or adventuring. But I will do my best to restore the Adventures of Captain Crash to what it was. Hopefully a few posts these next two weeks. Keep coming back.

Here's to a new adventure, and a challenge for the ages.

Tally-ho!
